Homeschool FAQ
Questions, answered honestly
Everything homeschool moms ask me most — about the discovery call, coaching, and how we'd work together. If your question isn't here, just ask by email.
›What is the 30-minute discovery call?
It's a relaxed, 30-minute conversation where we talk about your family — how school is going, what's not working, and what you'd love to see change. You don't need to prepare anything. Just come with your questions and your real day in mind.
›How much does it cost, and how do I pay?
A discovery call is $30 for 30 minutes. You can pay securely with PayPal from the pricing page — everything goes through my own PayPal account. There are no subscriptions or hidden fees.
›How do we meet?
Discovery calls happen over Zoom or FaceTime — whichever you prefer. We book the exact time together in advance by email, so it fits around naps, co-op, and the school day.
›What happens after I book?
Fill out the short consultation form on the Consultation page and I'll reply by email within two business days to set up our call. You can also just email me directly at SarahLayton03@yahoo.com — whichever is easiest for you.
›What can we cover in coaching?
Anything homeschool. Choosing and adjusting curriculum, planning a realistic week, helping a struggling reader or a reluctant writer, organizing multiple ages at once, keeping records, or deciding whether to change methods. It's your call — we work on what matters most to your family.
›What is a customized annual plan?
A full year mapped out for your children — subjects, resources, weekly rhythm, and checkpoints — built around your family's real constraints. Pricing depends on how many children and how much detail you want, so just ask for a quote after our discovery call.
›How often will we meet?
It's up to you. Some moms book a single discovery call and run with it. Others check in monthly or quarterly to adjust the plan as the year unfolds. There's no package to commit to.
›I'm brand new to homeschooling. Is this for me?
Absolutely — starting out is exactly when a 30-minute call pays off most. We can talk about your state's requirements (see the State Laws page), how to pick a method, and what a simple first week looks like.
›What's the Plan Helper, and is that the same as coaching?
The Plan Helper is an AI-powered tool that suggests a gentle learning plan based on your child's age, struggles, and your family's constraints — it's $5.99 per plan. Coaching with me is a real person who knows your family, adjusts, and follows up. Many moms start with the Plan Helper and book a call when they want a human.
›Do you keep my family's information private?
Yes. What you share in the form and on our calls stays between us. Your details are used to prepare for our conversation and to reply to you — nothing else.
